Invisible Enemies

Invisible Enemies
didn't even know
when I started on this freaky game show
that I'd be fighting these
invisible
for our struggle is not against flesh and blood
but against the rulers, against the authorities
against the powers of this dark world
and against the spiritual forces of evil
in the heavenly realms
invisible enemies

Dominoes Fall

Dominoes Fall
I was running with mixed up confusion
running with my head in the clouds
some people say that's a bad thing
some folks protesteth too loud
she was running, running on empty
tried to make radios appear
think we should go for a drive
towards the blue mountains
or the south coast
when those fires disappear
when dominoes fall, fall on the floor
and you know you just can't take any more
remember the way through the madness
and the dying day that lies waiting for all
yeah think we just ah, jump in the car
and drive out to k town
or head down south
and drop in some friends in mono
when dominoes fall, fall on the floor
and you know you just can't take any more
just remember the way through the madness
and the dying day that lies waiting for all
you've got to remember the way through the madness
and the dying day that lies waiting for all

Chaotic Solution
nailed the problem
picked at the scabs
touched all of the sickness
I've eve had
picked your bags
the zippers all broken
took turns with the captain
secrets unwoven
change the beat for the captive
sluice the waves without crashing
choose the chaotic solution

The Sphinx Of Blackwater
04:31
|

Arron: It's up, it's down, it's all around. Things are out of place and the big things of Australia are a good excuse for a road trip, listening to road music - the best kind of music.
Matt: The name came first from a rehearsal throw around, later with the place name, 'Blackwater' added to commemorate the person thought to be a victim of Covid in the town of the same name in Queensland, later found to have died of other causes.

It seems that in these modern times
music shops are on the decline.
In recent years, large instrument stores have closed across Sydney
partly due to online buying, but also due to larger cultural shifts,
such as the ability to carry instruments and recording studio capacities
within our phones.
Other shifts include the tailoring of individual music tastes to algorithmic mechanisms, with corporate interests at heart.
Musical taste, once the domain of the musically literate 'maven' or tastemakers, i.e., Nick Kent, Simon Reynolds, Greil Marcus, Lester Bangs, Molly Meldrum, et.al., now falls within the bounds of the dumbed down mass culture, with it's readily recognisable flags and emblems.
Those who ply their trade with making sounds with wood and wire and old style tube or transistor amps are relegated now to the oddities of,
to my mind similar to old blokes I saw playing trad jazz in bars in the 1980s, playing music from 50 years previous.
The problem, it appears is this:
How can folk in modern times come into contact with the new sounds that SaMe THeRaPy are producing, unless they get some sounds out to new audiences, through recordings and performances.

So Cathartic
01:35
|
|||
So Cathartic
clocking in and out and waiting for my days off
faces on the screen, looks like the tiles are peeling off
they're peeling off, peeling off
gathered in an upper room, waiting for the tongues of fire
sons of thunder through the gloom
they're gonna take it to the wire
it's so cathartic, so cathartic, so cathartic, so cathartic
it's like arithmetic
scheduled consequence
reward and threat
repetition and substitution
antecedents, associations
feedback and monitoring
goals and planning
social support
comparison of behaviour
communication and natural consequence
never let a good crisis go to waste

The Last Recording

The Last Recording
we’ve spoken of the truth
lots of things, philosophies
you say ‘ah but you have no proof
and I believe in only what I see’
so we take it as it comes
and you hear the sound
of lonely distant drums
can’t say that it’s the end
but is that the slow train
coming ‘round the bend?
and I know that it’s alright
there will come a day again
when only dead men die and then
as you walk towards the light
it may be a cliche
or the words in red were really right
you say let’s try the fruit
it helps me see
what I want to see’
you said ‘I was here before’
but the here and now
is knocking at your door
and I know that it’s alright
there will come a day again
when only dead men die and then
as you walk towards the light
it may be a cliche
or the words in red were really right
there will come a day again
when only dead men die and then
there will come a day again
when only dead men die

Endless Sea
05:14

The Endless Sea
in the dashing dizzy doldrums
I was backwards working on the drums
it was all i had left in me
I’m a monkey typing without thumbs
yeah we listen to the Undies
all those Melbourne independent dreams
and like a magnet moves the filings
we were praying behind the scenes
and you and me, we see the sea
and you and me woke up on
upon the endless sea
all the uploads yes they’re endless
how will the punters ever find us in the this
we could use some kind of promo
to cut through this deep and digital abyss
I was screaming for new order
I was standing in the drain
rapping with sweet jane
knew we had to find new meanings
‘cos they’re looping around
to come up behind you again
and you and me, we see the sea
and you and me walk upon
upon the endless sea
and we see all those things combine
then I remember the washing on the line
and we see all those things combine
and I remember the water and the wine
and you and me, we see the sea
and you and me woke up on
upon the endless sea
upon the endless sea
we walk upon the endless see

Anaesthetic

Anaesthetic
it was in the year dot and we were down by the seaside
and I really could not cross to the other side without you
it's a prodigal's journey through these encrypted alphabets
but what's it to you if we're all just chemical accidents
(but is it true?)
from the gas we go under
some said it thundered
is it a cosmic reward
or just the thing that nobody saw?
I regret that I missed him
must have been living the dream
from inside this hope
or was it aisle 13?
who really knew?
from the gas we go under
some said it thundered
is it a cosmic reward
or just the thing that nobody saw?
the gift of the sword
nobody saw

Sketch Of Earl Slick
know you don't know
you don't know
all there is to know
Know you don't know
you do not know
all there is to know
we were walking we were talking
hanging around busking on the island of song
going down mines, working the dredges
and scratching about at the bottom of a volcano
know you don't know
you don't know
all there is to know
Know you don't know
you do not know
all there is to know
we're sending our voices in digital boxes
soundscape prisms, the notes droning on
making our minds up, while corporate forces
give different choices
that's not where we're coming from
know you don't know
you don't know
all there is to know
Know you don't know
you do not know
all there is to know
drew him that morning, strange apparition
earl slick playing with the new york dolls
we've been curated, the broken narrative
from station to station the note's droning on and on
